Martin Guymon, 47, was flown to a Colorado Springs hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.
Guymon was riding west on Alamosa County Road 15 South, near its intersection with U.S. 285, when he was hit by a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Tamara Riedl, 46, of Alamosa.
Guymon was thrown from his bike by the impact of the crash, which happened just after Riedl had turned off of U.S. 285 and westbound onto the county road.
Riedl was not injured.
The state patrol is investigating whether sun glare played a role in the crash and whether the bicyclist was on the proper side of the road.
The patrol said speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident.
